A simple invention, the old fashioned dustpan is used in a variety of ways. However, the name, itself, falsely suggests only one way in which it can be used. Before we brag about the quality of our very own vintage dust pan, an American made dust pan we happily call the Queen City Dust Pan, we wish to show our respect by reviewing the history and benefits of this design. Created by Jacob Bromwell way back in 1819, his version of today’s steel dust pan remains as the one to proudly own, share, and use. In so doing, we invite you to find a comfy chair, sit back, and enjoy our story...
Dustpans have always been used in picking up dirt and dust as well as germs we can’t even see just by sweeping a floor. In Bromwell’s day and age, it is known that he was successful in sweeping up the floors of his very own home, all of which were made of wood from the surrounding woods. Without the advantage of his steel dust pan, the way in which to clean homes may have amounted to nothing more than using magazines, newspapers, and your hands. Those who attempt such methods know they don’t work very well. Besides, the germs found in and on these items, including food, may be poisonous if not deadly. Listeria and salmonella are examples of this. Unless you wash you hands with soap and warm water after picking up food from the floor, you could get very sick. The way to pick dirt, dust, and food off the floor is with either a broom or brush that has been made to work with a dust pan. The person cleaning the floor must hold the dustpan flat against the floor next to the pile of dirt, for instance, and guide the dirt into the dustpan by using either a broom or specially made brush. The dirt is then placed in a garbage pail. Bromwell’s invention of the steel dust pan, a vintage dust pan, certainly works best, we believe. Indeed, it will last a lifetime, even generations, making it the best buy of its kind anywhere in the world!
Many of those who own homes, including log cabins, often clean with a vacuum cleaner. Even though these machines do a great job sucking up dirt, dust, and pet hair, they also use electricity and require wasted time to take out of the closet, put together, and plug in. Besides, those who have allergies often have bad reactions to their use causing headaches, sinus congestion, or watery eyes not to mention the problems that happen to those with back problems. How uncomfortable, painful, and sad! Even though it would be tiring to clean your home with our steel dust pan, allergies, as mentioned, and such would be less problematic not to mention the noise pollution created by the vacuum cleaner, alone. Know that Bromwell’s Queen City Dust Pan uses no electricity, requires no cord or setting up, and has no costs unlike a vacuum cleaner should it break down, as most do over it’s short ‘lifetime’ of use. Also, as you know, the cost of our vintage dust pan is much, much less than the price of the cheapest vacuum cleaner you can find anywhere. One visit to Sears or Home Depot is all it would take to show you the amazing difference in price! Plus, unlike other dust pans, you can buy our black dust pan, almond dust pan, and/or our tan dust pan. Our colors will permit you to show off your favorite color or happily match the colors of your homestead and those of a neighbor or friend.
