We invite you to go to your special place of relaxation and join our family as our honored guest as you amazingly watch the pages of American history unfold. Do not be surprised if you catch yourself off guard traveling way back in time, much like on a time machine, watching the mastermind, himself, making his Vintage Coal Hog , like no other, in recorded history! Just don’t take our word for it; do the research and check online for yourself.
Just as Bromwell did, we respectfully ask you to consider this a priceless heirloom to be passed down through the generations, a proud tradition ‘jump-started’ by none other than you! Should you find yourself gently drifting into a pleasant sleep as our story unfolds, no need to thank us…really. We are used to it ourselves! Just know you may very well notice you are dreaming about how easy and safe using our black, coal bucket is in keeping your home and hearth cozy, warm, and most importantly, safe for your family.
No other American-made, black bucket can even come close to the safety and security of Jacob Bromwell’s very own Vintage Coal Hod as it simply doesn’t exist! Invented by Bromwell at the turn of the 19th century, his black bucket was especially made for appreciative, smart folks like you when life beckoned for safety from fires and flames that coal and wood easily created. His coal hod is still made today on the machinery first used back ‘in days of lore’ when families typically lived together from grandchildren to grandparents, and even great grandparents. Imagine the safety your Vintage Coal Hod will bring, its ashes securely contained, as your family sleeps soundly through the night , whether at home or by the campfire, as your next lump of coal or chord of wood keeps you warm. Know that our one-of-a-kind Vintage Coal Hod is an old fashioned, yet simple, safe, and secure treasure. Just think how jealous your family, friends, and neighbors who visit will be! They will beg to borrow or buy our Vintage Coal Hod as a memorable birthday, graduation, or holiday present.
Why, if you ever want to play the old fashioned game, Kick the Bucket, you could always buy another to play with the kids or grandkids. We are confident you will enjoy our Vintage Coal Hod the same way as did those from nearly 200 years ago did…as a family member ‘stashes the ashes’ and then perhaps hangs the ‘cod on a rod’ as was done almost 200 years ago! No need to find a ‘bowl for your coal’ or taking ‘chances with your branches’ as our hod will do just fine. Just type online, www.jacobbromwell.com, and you have come to the right place.
To further appreciate our very special coal bucket, we believe the more you understand its history, the more you will see what Jacob Bromwell was set out to accomplish for his fellow American people as we continued to become an independent nation. So, here’s our story for you history buffs and collectors out there...
The coal hod, or scuttle was introduced in the 1800s; the word “scuttle”, in this sense, is derived from the Latin scutella, “serving platter,” which is, in turn, borrowed from the word for shield, scutum. Before the introduction of the coal hod, people used ordinary buckets or deep shovels to transport coal, which could be a real pain in large houses, since coal was typically stored in the cellar.
