It requires patience. Adjustment. Repetition. Experience. Sometimes an artisan will remake a section multiple times before it feels right in the hand. Sometimes a finish develops differently from one batch to the next because raw materials themselves behave differently.

Machines seek uniformity.

Craftsmanship seeks character.
