I 'spect that most folks don't know diddly squat about me or my story. So allow me to introduce myself: I'm Jacob Bromwell, and I've seen quite a bit of American history. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, I am a veteran of the War of 1812 and I was there to witness the great California Gold Rush, the Civil War, and the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad. But my proudest accomplishment was traveling to Cincinnati, Ohio and founding America's oldest housewares company, The Bromwell Brush & Wire Goods Company, today known 'round all parts as Jacob Bromwell Inc. My goal way back in 1819 was to provide America's pioneers with cooking, camping and fireplace products that would make their way of living a little easierâ€â€_x009d_and I'm awfully proud to say that tradition continues for you modern folks to this day.
But just how did I get from Baltimore to Cincinnati, and what sorts of characters and adventures did I meet along the way? What was pioneer life like? That’s a mighty grand tale to tell, chaps and misses, and that’s why I’m starting this blogâ€â€_x009d_if you can bear with me as I translate my diary scribble to this here typewritâ€â€_x009d_I mean, laptop. As we said in the 1800s, I’m your Huckleberry*. So sit back with a swig of Jim Beam or tea (preferably in one of my Classic Tin Cups), relax, and join me to relive a bit of this country’s history!
