- Is this product handmade?
- Yes, all Jacob Bromwell® products are 100% hand built and are backed by our ironclad Lifetime Guarantee.
- Does the lighter come ready to use? Or does a customer need to have lighter fluid on hand?
- Due to government restrictions on shipping flammable products, all lighters are required to be shipped without butane.
- Is the lighter refillable? If so, what type of fluid or is it butane?
- The lighter is refillable with butane gas, which can be purchased at your local convenience store, usually for a few dollars. The butane gas we recommend is Ronson, but other brands also work great.
- Does the lighter take normal flint (like found in Zippo® lighters)?
The lighter does take normal flint which can be replaced as well.
- What are the steps to setting up and refilling the lighter?
- 1. Purge the remaining air from the lighter by pressing down on the nozzle at the bottom of the lighter with a flathead screwdriver. First, unscrew the screw that does not have a "+" on it. Skipping this step will prevent the lighter from functioning as it will be shooting out the air instead of butane when you try to ignite the flame. You will know this step is complete when you no longer hear noise coming from the lighter when pressing the valve with the screwdriver.
2. When refilling, make sure that the gas isn't leaking out. Some butane bottle nozzles are too big or too small which causes the gas to leak and won't work properly. We recommend Ronson Butane Fuel, which can be purchased at any local convenience store, usually for just a few dollars, and which fits perfectly with our lighters.
3. Afterwards, you may need to adjust the flame size using the screw at the bottom of the lighter. First, turn down the flame size to the lowest setting by turning towards the "-". Then, turn towards the "+" direction gradually and try to ignite it. If the size is too small or too large, the lighter will not light.
4. Finally, you may also need to let the lighter sit for 30 seconds before trying to ignite it. - What are the care instructions?
- We recommend following these care tips to maintain the shine and performance of your lighter over time. First, clean all surfaces with a soft cloth. Do not use solvent-based products. Second, clean lacquered surfaces as you would eyeglass lenses; fog them up, and wipe with a soft cloth. Lacquer is almost completely acid-proof. Exceptionally sturdy, it is particularly resistant to shocks, scratches, friction and water.
- Is this a jet flame or soft flame lighter?
This premium lighter features a soft flame.
- Is this lighter wind resistant?
- Yes, this lighter is wind-resistant in a gentle wind. The optimal flame size for this feature is a medium flame.
- How long will it take to receive my order?
- Jacob Bromwell® ships orders Monday-Friday out of our New Lenox, IL facility. You should receive your order within 3-4 business days after placing your order.
